Rifle
It is recommended to bring your own rifle. Naturally, you will feel more comfortable with a rifle you know and ballistics you are familiar with.
A common caliber to consider for smaller plainsgame hunting is something similar to the .270, .308, or 30/06.
For larger plainsgame hunting, a larger caliber such as: .300WM, 7mm RM or .338WM, is recommended.
For dangerous game, the minimum caliber requirement is .375.
Bow
Plainsgame requires a minimum poundage of 45 pounds and up. Arrows and broadheads 100g plus. A fixed blade like a G5 Montec will work well on all plainsgame.
Dangerous game requires a minimum poundage of 70 pounds and up. Arrows and broadheads 115-125g plus. A Magnus Stinger fixed blade is required for dangerous game.
**Mechanical heads do not work well on any African species.**
Ammunition
Ammunition in Africa is expensive. When planning for your trip, we recommend bringing 40-60 rounds of ammo for each firearm.
